At the heart of the design, four Sotho shields are crossed with clubs and spears — forming a Victoria Cross motif that represents protection and leadership. The central image features King Moshoeshoe I, while the sacred mountain Thaba Bosiu appears along the border — the historic stronghold from which he built his kingdom.
