The distinctive Shweshwe fabric inspired this colourful wrap. Named after the Sotho King, Moshoeshoe 1, it is the quintessential fabric of Southern Africa.
Shweshwe is worn by newly married Xhosa women, known as makoti, and also married Sotho women. Today the cloth is multicultural, used for traditional ceremonies and weddings,
as well as contemporary fashion.
